On the invitation of European Film Promotion (EFP), the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF) and Variety, ten European directors have presented their newest films in the sidebar “Variety Critics’ Choice: Europe Now!” during the past two festivals days, July 6 and 7.
According to EFP, the selection of fresh European films from all genres each year attracts big audiences and rises the interest of the international film industry and press.

The MEDIA Programme of the European Union and the ten participating EFP member organisations have supported this spotlight on European films of up-and-coming directing talent.
Participating EFP member organisations are Austrian Film Commission, British Council, Instituto de la Cinematografa y de las Artes Audiovisuales / ICAA (Spain), Irish Film Board, Istituto Luce Cinecittà (Italy), Norwegian Film Institute, Romanian Film Promotion, Slovenian Film Centre, UniFrance films, and Georgian National Film Center.
