Sony Movie Channel (SMC) continues its “Sundays in HD” block with critically acclaimed films every week at 7 p.m. ET.
The Oscar lineup for June includes Best Cinematography nominees THE BLUE LAGOON (June 1), starring Brooke Shields, and HOPE AND GLORY (June 8); James Stewart in THE MAN FROM LARAMIE (June 15); Best Documentary nominee WINGED MIGRATION (June 22); and Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman in the Best Art Direction nominee GATTACA (June 29).
Saddle up with dad on Sunday, June 15, for SMC’s Father’s Day Western Marathon at 8 a.m. ET. The showdown begins with SILVERADO, starring Kevin Costner and Kevin Kline; followed by old west favorites such as THEY CAME TO CORDURA, starring Gary Cooper and Rita Hayworth; Glenn Ford in THE VIOLENT MEN and THE MAN FROM COLORADO and more.
SMC turns up the heat this month with the “Summer Uncensored Marathon” at 10 a.m. ET on Saturday, June 21. The steamy stunt features nine films, such as teen castaway drama THE BLUE LAGOON; Tanya Roberts as jungle girl SHEENA; Sherman Hemsley in the mile-high comedy STEWARDESS SCHOOL; Johnny Depp in PRIVATE RESORT; and the ’80s classic HARDBODIES, among others.
And SMC honors some of Hollywood’s biggest names with special stunts throughout the month, featuring James Spader in SEX, LIES, AND VIDEOTAPE on Tuesday, June 3; 2014 Oscar winners Jared Leto in the slasher classic URBAN LEGEND, and Matthew McConaughey in TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE: THE NEXT GENERATION on Thursday, June 5; Jack Nicholson in FIVE EASY PIECES on Tuesday, June 10; and Samuel L. Jackson in CLEANER on Friday, June 20.
