It is the story of a young boy who was a small-time tea vendor in an Indian state some 60 years ago. He decides to change India completely – a kinda upside down.

Although the story does not tell why this boy took such a drastic decision, it shows that he succeeds in his attempt to change India after about six decades.

Produced by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for writer-director-actor Narendra Modi who also is the Prime Monster (sorry, it’s Prime Minister) of India, the film abruptly takes you to the streets of changed India that Modi has just managed to change.

The film “मेरा देश बदल रहा है, आगे बढ़ रहा है… 2 Years of Modi Sarkaar” is believed to be based on a true story which has been presented with a series of twists and tweaks.

Some horror scenes, for example, from the events that took place in 2002 in Gujarat have been removed perhaps for the fear that they might terrorize the young viewers.

Similarly, the educational qualifications of Modi – who is in the lead role – have been censored. Strangely, Modi’s real fight with a crocodile is also missing from the film.

All this will confuse the viewers. But that’s okay. Most Indian films are made to confuse the viewers.

The Modi film goes on to explain the hero’s feats including his fight with corruption, his help for young girls’ education, his resolve to keep India clean with a lot of employment opportunities for the youth, and so on.

The action sequences depict Modi’s fierce battle with enemies such as Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Arvind Kejriwal who are shown as villains in the film. It goes without saying that the hero wins.

The film ends on a surreal note in an utopian world that the aging hero has created in just two years for the 1.25 billion Indians who are treated by him like his family members. Smiles galore.

The film is full of exaggerated entertainment, the kind of entertainment Bollywood films provide. But films are films. After a few minutes of fun, you have to again face the harsh realities of the world. And here you can see the harsh realities in India.

Although film producers at BJP did not reveal, a sequel to the film is expected after a year in May 2017 with a possible title: “… 3 Years of Modi Sarkaar”. Stay tuned.

All characters in this story are fictitious and any resemblance to any actual persons, dead or alive, is entirely unintentional.
