IMAX Corporation and Twentieth Century Fox, a division of 21st Century Fox, announced Wednesday that X-Men: Apocalypse, the newest installment in the worldwide blockbuster franchise from director Bryan Singer, will be released into IMAX theatres in major international territories beginning May 18.

X-Men: Apocalypse — which reunites Singer with the all-star cast of the global smash hit X-Men: Days of Future Past, including James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence, along with franchise newcomers Oscar Isaac and Olivia Munn — will be released in more than 50 overseas IMAX markets, including such major territories as Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Russia, Taiwan, South Korea and the U.K.

The IMAX 3D release of X-Men: Apocalypse will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience with proprietary IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology.
