With the help of Film Sales Support (FSS), six European films are being promoted at this year’s Sundance Film Festival (January 22 – February 1, 2015).
FSS, an initiative of European Film Promotion (EFP), is funded by the Creative Europe – MEDIA Programme of the European Union.
The Sundance Film Festival is one of FSS’ flagship festivals for which sales companies may receive financial assistance for their marketing campaigns. €26,000 has been earmarked in total to boost sales of European films to North America.
Amongst FSS beneficiaries are renowned sales outfit, TrustNordisk, representing two Norwegian films in Park City: the children’s film, Operation Arctic by Grethe Bøe-Waal and Homesick by Anne Sewitsky who received the Narrative World Cinema Jury Award for her film, Happy Happy in Sundance in 2011.
Films Distribution is coming to the festival with The Summer of Sangaile by Alanté Kavaïte, a coproduction between France, Lithuania and the Netherlands starring Aistė Diržiūtė, this year’s Shooting Star from Lithuania.
Hanway Films represents John Crowley’s Brooklyn, featuring former Shooting Star, Domhnall Gleeson and actress Saoirse Ronan (Grand Budapest Hotel).
Autlook Film Sales which is in Sundance for the first time is representing a “documentary from outer space”, The Visit by Michael Madsen and DR Sales is promoting the controversial Pervert Park by Lasse & Frida Barkfors.
